In celebration of Earth Day and to inspire the community to help keep Newburgh clean and green, Safe Harbors of the Hudson, along with the Central Hudson, City of Newburgh, Mount Saint Mary College, SUNY Orange, St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Taylor Biomass and several Newburgh-based community organizations will hold the second annual Newburgh Community Cleanup on Saturday, May 12. This is an opportunity for community members, young and old, to be a part of what's great in the City of Newburgh. The cleanup will be held from 9:00 am-1:00 pm and a post-cleanup celebration will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm.

The cleanup efforts will cover the city from Clinton Street to Renwick Street and from Downing Park east to Colden Street. Safe Harbors is seeking cleanup participants of all ages. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should arrive no later than 8:30 am to the Broadway/Liberty Street Lot, adjacent to the Ritz Theater. Supplies will be provided to participants and Safe Harbors is seeking sponsors to donate items such as heavy duty trash bags and work gloves.
